Ratings Rose

According to SyFy Portal Heroes Ratings went up from Monday…

NBC’s only real bright light shined a little brighter Monday earning a 6.7 rating/10 share according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. That is up slightly over the 6.6 earned the previous week, and was enough to take third place behind comedies on CBS and “Samantha Who?” on ABC, but was able to win the hour in the key demographic of adults 18 to 49.

“Chuck,” the lead-in to “Heroes,” is doing better as well, according to Zap2it. That show pulled in a 4.9/7, enough to tie for second in households with “How I Met Your Mother” and “Big Bang Theory,” all of which followed well behind “Dancing With the Stars, which had more than three times the audience with a 16.0/23. All those shows beat reruns on Fox and whatever The CW decided to show.

“Journeyman” did nothing to try and save itself, coming in at a 3.8/6, a 40 percent audience drop from its lead-in. It finished well behind “CSI: Miami” on CBS and “October Road” on ABC, although it did slip ahead of the ABC series in total number of viewers.

For the night, NBC finished third with a 5.2/8, but finished just behind CBS and ABC in the key 18-to-49 age demographic.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.

According to a post on SyFy Portal Heroes lost out in the ratings to Dancing with the Stars but still it racked in a nice 7 odd million viewers…

The second season premiere of one of NBC’s signature shows earned an 8.1 rating/12 share for the 9 p.m. hour, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, losing out to the conclusion of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” but handedly beating the premiere of “The Bachelor” that followed. Those shows earned a 13.7/20 and a 7.2/11 respectively.

The sci-fi package for NBC was obviously anchored by “Heroes,” with its lead-in “Chuck” and lead-out “Journeyman” picking up significantly smaller audiences. “Chuck” tied the CBS comedy block of “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” with a 6.0/9 for second place, but maintained more viewers in the key 18 to 49 age demographic, according to Zap2it. All those shows lost out to the first hour of “Dancing,” which had a 13.4/21.

It seems Heroes didn’t do as well as some would of hoped last night by not beating ABC or CBS in the running for the ratings…

Fast National ratings for Monday, April 23, 2007

ABC hoofed its way to another ratings win Monday, denting the ratings for NBC’s “Heroes” a little bit in the process.

For the night, ABC drew a 9.6 rating/15 share. CBS finished second at 7.7/12, with NBC in third at 6.3/10. FOX was fourth at 4.6/7. The CW, 1.7/3, brought up the rear.

The adults 18-49 race was considerably tighter, with ABC’s 4.1 rating edging NBC’s 3.9 and CBS’ 3.8 for the top spot. FOX averaged 2.8 and The CW 1.2.

“Dancing with the Stars” earned an 11.9/19 at 8 p.m., dominating the hour. NBC’s “Deal or No Deal” grabbed second with a 7.1/11. A “How I Met Your Mother” rerun and “Old Christine” put CBS in third. “Drive,” 2.9/5, came in fourth for FOX, topping “Everybody Hates Chris,” 1.9/3, and “All of Us,” 1.6/2, on The CW.

The conclusion of “Dancing,” 13.6/20, and “The Bachelor,” 7.4/11, kept ABC in the lead at 9 p.m. CBS moved up to second with “Two and a Half Men,” 7.9/12, and “The King of Queens,” 8.1/12. “Heroes” returned from hiatus with a 7.2/11 for NBC, down some from its season average (it led the hour in adults 18-49). FOX’s “24” scored a 6.3/10. The CW stayed stuck in fifth with “Girlfriends” and “The Game.”

At 10 p.m., CBS’ “CSI: Miami” easily won the hour with a 10.9/18. “The Bachelor” dipped to 6.4/11. The premiere of “The Real Wedding Crashers” posted a 4.5/7 for NBC.
