According to a post on SyFy Portal Heroes lost out in the ratings to Dancing with the Stars but still it racked in a nice 7 odd million viewers…

The second season premiere of one of NBC’s signature shows earned an 8.1 rating/12 share for the 9 p.m. hour, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, losing out to the conclusion of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars,” but handedly beating the premiere of “The Bachelor” that followed. Those shows earned a 13.7/20 and a 7.2/11 respectively.

The sci-fi package for NBC was obviously anchored by “Heroes,” with its lead-in “Chuck” and lead-out “Journeyman” picking up significantly smaller audiences. “Chuck” tied the CBS comedy block of “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” with a 6.0/9 for second place, but maintained more viewers in the key 18 to 49 age demographic, according to Zap2it. All those shows lost out to the first hour of “Dancing,” which had a 13.4/21.

Zach Quinto recently chatted to the New York Press about his role in Heroes…

Does Sylar get any sort of redemption in the upcoming season?

I don’t know if that’s a possibility down the line, but I don’t think we’re necessarily going to pick right up with the character. If Sylar’s going to stick around for a while, then I’m sure that’s something that they’ll potentially explore. There are a few other things to explore before we get to that.

Wow what a premiere I will go into later with a round up of Web Reviews and my thoughts but here is the run down for next week and a promo.

With one person dead, Matt (Greg Grunberg) enlists some unlikely help as the attacks continue on people with abilities. Claire’s (Hayden Panettiere) efforts to hide her healing abilities at her new California high school are jeopardized by a fellow student with a secret of his own. Niki (Ali Larter) and Micah (Noah Gray-Cabey) leave Las Vegas in an attempt to start over. As part of his new job, Dr. Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) must track down The Haitian (guest star Jimmy Jean-Louis). While crossing into Mexico, Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Alejandro’s (Shalim Ortiz) abilities prove to be a threat to those around them. Meanwhile, disappointed by his hero Kensei (David Anders), Hiro (Masi Oka) resolves to rectify any damage his presence in feudal Japan has done to history. And another lost Hero falls in with a gang of Irish gangsters with clues to his past.

Eli Roth

Kevin Smith is already on board for Heroes but now so is Eli Roth…

The director of horror film Hostel, Eli Roth, is set to write an episode of Heroes spin-off series Origins, according to an industry report.

Michael Dougherty, who co-wrote the screenplay of Superman Returns, will also pen an episode of the show, says the Hollywood Reporter.

The series, due to start in the US next Spring, will introduce new characters so far unseen in the original drama.

US viewers will vote for one of the new superheroes to join the main programme.

Big fans

BBC Two has struck a deal with NBC to screen future series of the science-fiction drama, including series two.

The station’s terrestrial premiere of the programme attracted an audience of 4.3 million viewers earlier this year.

Roth is also expected to direct his episode of the spin-off show, which will show each character as they discover their extraordinary powers.

Both Roth and Dougherty, who recently made his directorial debut on the horror film Trick ‘r Treat, are said to be big fans of Heroes.

Roth has acting, producing, directing and writing credits on Grindhouse, the latest movie from Quentin Tarantino.

The second season of Heroes is making its debut in the US on Monday night.
